Lockhart Jumps, Number One Man Stays on Top

BARRIERE, British Columbia and PONOKA, Alberta -- Bull Riders Canada brought the New Year in with a spectacular two-event, two-Province kick-off.

In Barriere, British Columbia the Farm Kids Scholarship Fund was the main beneficiary for the event which featured two long rounds of action. Three riders obtained qualified rides in each round with Jacob Gardner (Fort St. John British Columbia) having the highest score of the night; an 84.5 marking on Pozzobon Bucking Bulls’ 94 Jason’s Dream. As a result, Gardner was the event champion with a total of 166 points on two head and pocketed just over $2900.00. Gardner also made a splash into the BRC National Standings with the win; moving from out of the standings all the way up to number three.

In Ponoka, Alberta there was only one man to ride all of his bulls. Two time BRC Finalist Landon Lockhart (Brandon, Manitoba) was a total of 155 on two head and was the only man to ride in the short round; covering Vold Rodeo Company/Prescott’s Z24 Gold Dust and lining his pockets with over $3150.00. With the victory, Landon jumped from fifth place to second place in the BRC National Standings.

The number one man in the BRC remains unchanged as Tim Lipsett (Lumsden, Saskatchewan) was second in the first round in Barriere, British Columbia and earned 100 points. Those 100 points were just enough to keep him in the top spot with Lockhart only 45 points behind!
