Tenth Annual Buffalo Hills Bull Riding Goes to Promoter Pick

Arrowwood, Alberta -- Organizer and promoter Nate Gardner continued to add excitement to the 10th Annual Buffalo Hills Bull Riding event which is anticipated by everyone in the local area; adding a hand built Harmon Rocket airplane operated by Ken Fowler to start the show off. It was spectacular to see!

The weather was fabulous and the crowd was entertained after Griffin Smeltzer, Chlaresholm, AB won the event with a combined score of 164.5 on two bulls.

The long round was won by Jacob Gardner, Fort St. John, BC with an 83 score on Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp bull 923 Code Blue. Smeltzer finished fourth in the long round with an 80.5 score.

In the short round it was local rider Smeltzer that scored a solid 84.5 on Wilson Rodeo 51 Road Trip. The win vaulted Smeltzer into the top five in the BRC National Standings.

Two other BRC Contestants made big strides towards solidifying their spot at the Season IV Wrangler National Finals in Lloydminster this coming October. Jerett Nash, Sangudo, AB, moved from 36th to 18th while Chris Young, Bullsbrook, Australia, moved from 25th to 15th.

This event also showcased another good point...BULL RIDERS - if you make it in to the short round on time, take the bull!

Warlen de Aquino, Sao Paulo, Brazil got into the short round on time last night. Scoring a 78 point ride in the short round earned de Aquino over $1600.00 cash and jumped from 40th to a tie for 22nd in the National Standings! Bull riders...take the bull!
