A Race to the BRC Finals

The Race to the BRC National Finals is on and Covy knows it!

StartFragment

Gladstone, Manitoba - Cody Coverchuk, Meadow Lake SK, always wants to be first. In fact, all bull riders always want to be first! After leading the Bull Riders Canada Inc. National Standings for the first part of Season IV, he was overtaken by his good friend from Australia, Josh Birks.

Now, with seven weeks until the BRC Finals event in Lloydminster, SK, Cody has dedicated himself to regaining the number one spot...what an exciting race it is going to be!

After double-entering in the Delmar Commodities and Legend Seeds Bull Mania, presented by the Gladstone Agricultural Society, Coverchuk managed to secure first and second place finishes in round one. The two rides earned the Saskatchewan native over $1900.00 and 340 points towards the National Standings. These points moved Coverchuk to within 510 points of the BRC number one man; Josh BIrks, Merriwa, NSW, Australia.

In round two, it was Dale Bueckert, Austin, MB who was the only rider to stay on. Scoring a solid 83 points on Stevens Bucking Bulls' Gaston, Bueckert earned over $1500.00 and 200 points, putting him just outside of the top 30 riders in the BRC National Standings. Bueckert won the event and we will be seeing him entering more events in the near future as he strives to land inside the top 30 heading into Lloydminster, SK. October 21st & 22nd.

Siksika Nation Bull A Rama a Huge Success!

Siksika, Alberta - In the first season it is sometimes difficult for committees or local area groups to gain momentum and support in terms of a fan base. This was definitely not the case in the inaugural Siksika Nation Bull A Rama event. Rick Running Rabbit and the entire Siksika Ag Society Committee can be very proud for creating what will become a staple within the BRC Western Canadian bull riding season.

Griffin Smeltzer, Claresholm, AB made two great rides and won both Rounds of the two-round event. Scoring 86 points on the back of Bar UT Bucking Bulls' Zodiac Sign, Smeltzer won the first round. Stepping it up in the second round and scoring a very solid 88 points on X6 Ranch Bucking Cattles' Black Sugar, Smeltzer picked up over $3200.00 dollars and the maximum amount of points possible for an event at 400. Those points moved Smeltzer from seventh place into the top five; right where you need to be to have a chance to win an extra $1000.0 in the Grudge Match at the Season IV Finals in Lloydminster, SK, October 21 and 22.

BRC caught up with Griffin following the event and he had this to say "...I've been having a little trouble feeling comfortable in the setting. At Siksika Bull A Rama I was just having fun and everything worked out! Thanks to the BRC as well as the Committee for putting on a great bull riding!"

Thank you to both Dale Buekert & Griffin Smeltzer for submitting clips of their winning rides:
