Boyz & Bullz Kicks Off Season V

Eriksdale, Manitoba - The Boneyard General Repair - Boyz & Bullz event, presented by The Healthy Chef, celebrated their 20th year with a capacity crowd once again. The event saw some great bull rides and was very well hosted by BRC Finals bound Announcer, Dustin Edwards.

The Eriksdale event format is unique as all of the bull riding contestants are treated to a Mr. Perogie & Steak supper. During this complimentary feast, the draw is done live where the Contestants pick numbers for their turn to select their long round bulls.

In the first round it was 16 year old Everett Fairlie, Warren, MB who stole the show with an 84.5 point score aboard Lazy S & Bonkowski Bucking Bulls' Brindle Bob.

Thank you to Everett for submitting the clip of his 84.5pt ride:

Fairlie double entered in Eriksdale after a spot opened up from a last minute turnout. Considering Eriksdale's format was already a 2 head event, that meant Everett would have to ride 4 bulls in one night. He rode excellent, with qualified rides on the first two ,and making a good effort but coming in just under the 8 seconds on his last two bulls.

With the points won from his double entry spot, even though he came second place in Eriksdale, Everett is currently leading the 2016-17 Season V National Standings with 485 points. "...there is a long ways to go (in the season), but it feels good to start the new season strong." says Everett.

Fairlie recently found out that he will be attending his first ever Bull Riders Canada Finals, competing against 29 other Top BRC bull riders this weekend in Lloydminster, SK.

BRC President, Russell Friend was impressed with the young up-and-coming cowboy's determination.

"Everett has a lot of confidence and is craving bulls...THAT is the recipe for success." said Friend. "Fairlie could really make the Finals even more interesting this weekend in Lloydminster."

Winning round 2 and placing second in round 1, was Kyle Primeau, Gwynne, AB. Scoring an 83.5 in the first round and an 87 point effort in the second round aboard Stevens Bucking Bulls Billy The Kid.

With a score of 170.5 on 2 head, Primeau wins the bull riding.

Kyle Primeau is no stranger to winning the Boneyard General Repair - Boyz & Bullz event. He won it back in 2013, on his last trip to Eriksdale.

Primeau picked up just over $2000.00 for his efforts and sits second in the 2016-17 Season V National Standings with 390 points. It is good to see Primeau starting out Season V with a win and you can expect to see him challenging for the Season Leader award in one years' time.

BRC caught up with Kyle following his win and he was very complimentary about his hosts, the Eriksdale Community Club. "Ben Kinkead (Eriksdale Community Club VP) puts on an outstanding event for the Bull Riders in Eriksdale - it's first class."

When asked how it feels to be back riding in BRC and about his goals for Season V, Primeau responded "...I'm going to do what's best for my family and to provide for them, and I think BRC provides me that opportunity."

All roads now point to Lloydminster, SK as the Wrangler Bull Riders Canada Season IV Finals takes over the Exhibition Grounds this weekend at 7:00PM on Friday, October 21st and again at 7:00PM on Saturday, October 22nd.

See you this weekend!
