BC Boys Bring in the New Year with a Win

Barriere, British Columbia - The 5th Annual New Year's Eve Bull-A-Rama thrilled the spectators in attendance as the exciting new format proved to be a hit with the contestants and fans.

The North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association created a format based on popular feedback since the event first debuted along with Bull Riders Canada; five years ago. The new format features 20 contestants in each round and then an intermission which is followed by the same 20-contestants getting on for another round of action.

The Bull Riders Canada Contestants voted at the recent Annual General Meeting to change the payout structure for a two head event to paying three spots in each round after the combined added money and entry fees were split.

Second year BRC Contestant Member Jackson Scott, Kamloops, British Columbia was the event champion by making two great bull rides. In the first round, Scott was a solid 87 points on S&E Bucking Bulls' Gizmo to win the round.

Scott placed second in round two with an 84 point ride on Coyote Creek Rodeo's Millon Dollar Man. For his efforts, Scott took home over $2900.00 plus a trophy buckle and champion jacket. Jackson is now tied for 2nd place in the Season V BRC National Standings.

Thank you to Jackson Scott for submitting video clips of both his rides:

The winner of the second round was Jacob Gardner, Dawson Creek, British Columbia who rode Pozzobon Bucking Bulls' Blond Hair Don't Care to an 86 point score which was worth more than $1800.00.

With 11 rides out of 40 gates the riding average was a solid 27.5 percent which really helped sell the show.

The Barriere event was the first of two events where BCRA Carded Members could enter on their BCRA Card and have a chance to compete. Bull Riders Canada and the BCRA recently completed an Agreement which essentially gives bull riders more opportunities to compete after making the decision to become a member of an Association. The next Bull Riders Canada event that the Agreement will cover will be the two-day Penticton event in July.

Congratulations to Jill Hayward and the entire Barriere Committee for another fantastic event!
