Coverchuk: "Make Every Bull Count"

Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan - The Meadow Lake Stampede Association has once again delivered a fantastic show. Being Stop #2 on the BRC Central Tour, the Mayhem in Meadow event was not only $5000.00 added in prize money, but also double points to the bull riders for the BRC National Standings.

These double points are so important for Bull Riders to make it into the Top 25 going to the BRC Finals. Coverchuk who was already in the number one spot, has now given himself a bit more of a cushion with that lead.

"...just keep riding it bull for bull. You know, Shane Peters he rides good, he's in second and he's coming after me, so I just gotta make every bull count." Cody says. With 2745 points, Coverchuk is now 1185 points ahead of the number two man, Shane Peters from Delburne, AB.

After taking first place with an 82 in the Long Round on Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls' Solid 3, it all came down to Coverchuk on the last bull of the night. Thompson Rodeo's Twist of Barbwire was the bull he would ride in the Canadian Global Championship Round, and after showing his hometown crowd how it's done with an impressive 86 point ride, Cody recalls "...he bucked me off last year in Spiritwood in the Short Round for about $4500 again, so it’s nice to get him rode this time for sure - especially in the hometown!"

The hometown crowd of Meadow Lake has been able to see their Cowboy win this event back-to-back the past two Seasons. Cody tells us "...getting on good bulls, always in Meadow Lake, and capitalizing when it counts for the big money, so that helps."

Cody Coverchuk is after the BRC National Title, and he's right there in striking distance. He says "...second is the first loser, and I hate losing."
