Aquino, Marks & Aguilar take the Weekend Wins

Byemoor, Alberta and Watrous, Saskatchewan - It was quite a weekend for BRC Bull Riders, filled with big money and big points as they moved between Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The 25th Annual Byemoor Bull A Rama saw fans pack the stands to support their town. And what an amazing group they were. Four year old Heidi Hebert wowed the crowd as she sang Canada's National Anthem, and 50/50 winner Warren Jones graciously donated all his winnings back to the community!

The cowboy to take home the Championship win, which included a custom made wallet from Jenn Bunney Leatherworks, was Brazilian Warlen Aquino.

Warlen was 82.5 points in the Long Round, which would end up being the highest score of the night, awarding him the Championship spot in Byemoor.

“...rode a good bull into my hand and it felt really good to make the 8 seconds" says Aquino of his ride on Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp's 419 Avenged Sevenfold.

Warlen's goal for 2019 is to win the National Champion title in BRC. He's off to a great start, considering a few challenges.

“...started a little bit hard for me, because I injured my shoulder. I’m getting better, it feels better right now. We’re going to just work together like a team. Me, Italo and Marcos, and we hope we’re going to do the best here.”

Aquino left Byemoor not only as the Champion, but with $1140.00 in his new Jenn Bunney Leatherworks wallet, and 300 points in the BRC Standings brought to you by Nelson Homes.

Italo Aguilar was the only man to stay on in the PUPRUS Vodka Championship Round, which means his qualified ride on 011 of Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp. gave him $2700.00 and a total of 230 points.

The following night in Watrous, Saskatchewan, it was Sunnybrook Alberta's Shay Marks who would claim the event Championship title and take home the Troy Fisher buckle, over $3400.00 in prize money, and 780 points to the BRC National Standings brought to you by Nelson Homes.

With an 82 point ride on Sawyer Pro Rodeo's 555 Charlie Fox Trot the night before in Byemoor, Shay had a pretty nice weekend – two events and picking up money and points at both.

“...I’ve needed them both. These are the first BRCs I’ve went to (this Season) and the money never hurts either” Marks says of his weekend.

In the Long Round at the Watrous Kinsmen Bull A Rama, Shay rode Foley Bucking Bulls' 605 Black Beatle for 84.5 points.

“...it was awesome, nice little bull of James Foley’s (Foley Bucking Bulls) – you never get a bad one when you’re in his pen – and it worked out.” Shay says of his ride.

Marks showed the sold out crowd in Watrous what he's all about when he took on Thompson Rodeo's 414 Act Naturally in the PURPUS Vodka Championship Round with an 86.5 point ride.

“...it was an awesome bull away from my hand, of Jim Thompson’s (Thompson Rodeo) and it felt really good, and we matched up perfect."

With Watrous, Saskatchewan being the first stop on the BRC Central Tour, which means DOUBLE POINTS for the BRC cowboys, Shay moves to 2nd overall in the BRC National Standings brought to you by Nelson Homes. Marks is only 320 points behind the new number one man - Italo Aguilar from Nova Modica, Brazil.

Italo made a huge jump this weekend from 11th following Byemoor to 1st after Watrous, and has plans to stay in that number one spot. Aguilar has earned over $6,000.00 and 1370 points so far in the Coors Banquet Bull Riders Canada Season VII presented by Nelson Homes.
