From Canada Day Celebrations to Central Tour Money Announcements

It has certainly been a busy few weeks for the Bull Riding industry, and BRC has seen our fair share of the action!

Rockyford, AB - The Rockyford Lions and the Rockyford Agricultural Society once again held an amazing show that finishes with a Canada Day fireworks celebration. Mother Nature even held back a bit, as she poured rain right before showtime but held off once the bull riding action began.

BRCs reigning Finals Champion, Marcos Gloria from Central De Minas, Brazil, double entered this event and it sure paid off. In the Long Round, Marcos took first place with a 78 point ride on Wilson Rodeo's Hybrid Theory, as well as third place with a score of 68 on Flying High Rodeo's Bearded Betty.

In the Canadian Global Championship Round, newcomer Tristan Braden from Clermont, QLD, Australia was first place with an impressive 86.5 points on Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.'s Dr. Fang. Not far behind him was Marcos Gloria in second place with 86 on Foley Bucking Bulls' Sweet Baby Ray.

Being the only Cowboy to ride two, Marcos Gloria leaves Rockyford as the Event Champion with over $3,600.00 in prize money and 610 points for the BRC National Standings.

Bengough, SK (Bengough story courtesy of Crossfire Bullriding Promotions Inc.) - A record crowd turned up for the Nelson Motors Canada Day Bull Riding on Sunday, July 1st. The weather was amazing and the bulls were bucking hard.

The first round saw two great rides. Justin Siemens, Rimbey, AB rode Muddy View Bucking Bulls' Survivor for 74 points, while Jack Keats, Mount Isa, QLD, Australia rode another Muddy View Bucking Bulls' bull, Cool Pop for 80 points, finishing the round in the lead.

In the Canadian Global Championship Round two however, Siemens would come back strong with an 80 point ride on Muddy View Bucking Bulls' Harlem Nights securing his win. Siemens took home the beautiful buckle, $3,086.00 cash and 200 points towards the BRC Finals.

Thanks to his win in Bengough, Siemens now sits 2nd in the Central Tour and 8th in the overall standings.

Bull of the Event presented by Crossfire Bullriding Promotions Inc. in memory of Ben's dad, Ben Kinkead Sr. was awarded to Ken and Craig Stevens of Stevens Bucking Bulls to 236 Chucky, a big yellow bucker who likes to play the intimidation card in the bucking chute before the gate opens. In the arena, he goes one then cranks it back and gives his rider the chance to be first.

Proceeds from the Bengough Nelson Motors Canada Day Bull Riding will be divided up into various community projects.

Balzac, AB - The Cowtown Rodeo charity event held at the Girletz Rodeo Ranch in Balzac, AB was the first win of the Season for rookie Denver Sisson.

"...it feels good, you know. ...there’s lot of great people to come out and support you there." Sisson says of his first BRC win.

Denver rode Meston Rodeo Company's Cream Puff for 83.5 points to win the event and says of his draw, "he was pretty heavy but he was, he was just nice. He was back into my hand. Nothing coulda went better I suppose."

Sisson took home over $1,800.00, 200 points, and the buckle donated by the Calgary Flames' Poker Tournament.

Shane Peters took second place in the Cowtown Rodeo with 74 points on Honky Tonk Rodeo's First Date, adding more points for himself and closing the gap he has with the number one man, Cody Coverchuk. Peters is now only 725 points away from Coverchuk.

Moosomin, SK - Points aren't all that matter for these Cowboys. It's what gets them into the finals, but what keeps them traveling down the road are the payouts. Shane Peters was invited to participate in the $4000.00 Champions Challenge following the Moosomin Rodeo.

Peters bucked off in the Rodeo, but since he was invited as the BRC Contestant for the winner-take-all Champions Challenge, he had another shot. And what did this winner do? He took it all! Shane was 84 points on Lazy S Bucking Bulls' Crossfires Pipeslinger to win the entire $4000.00 prize.

Speaking of payouts...Midale, SK and Gladstone, MB have both INCREASED their prize money for their upcoming BRC Bull Ridings!

Midale, SK has just announced their Added Money is increased to $4000.00, plus the $500.00 Power Tech Champions Challenge. The group has also made big ground improvements, allowing them to add a jackpot roping on the Saturday, and a barrel racing on the Sunday. These events along with Entertainer Ash Cooper, will add to the already full family weekend of the Thresherman's reunion.

Gladstone, MB has also just announced their Added Money is being increased to $4000.00, plus a High Resolution LED Video / Replay Screen for the crowd's enjoyment.

Both Midale and Gladstone are part of the BRC Cenral Tour, which means DOUBLE POINTS for the BRC Finals. These events are also co-sanctioned with the CCA, so Cowboys can enter on their BRC card and/or CCA card, and get points in their respective Associations.
